What you need to know Nov. 8

SOOOOOOO it’s the MOST WONDERFUL TIME OF THE YEAR. For me at least. I am so pumped. If you know me, you know I graduated with a degree in Political Science and a minor in spanish. I have been having the best time with this election.

I have to say, I really wanted Marco Rubio to take the Republican nomination. If he had won the nomination and Bernie Sanders had received the Democratic nomination, maybe this election would’ve turned out differently. Maybe we would have been hearing about actual policy decisions rather than hear what the opponents might say about each others policy plans.

I try to stay pretty bipartisan. I am very much an independent. I vote on three key issues: immigration, education, and economy. Those are three of the biggest issues the entire country wants to know about. I don’t affiliate with a party whatsoever as I think that the two-party system is how we got into this mess with the two worst candidates to ever run for the presidency.

Don’t get me wrong. They both do very good deeds and are both equally horrible human beings…but aren’t we all? Don’t we all have skeletons in our closet? And before you say, “no Christina I am a much better person,” you aren’t. We all are terrible. No one is perfect. If you think you are, you might be too into yourself.

So, if you’re thinking what is going to happen after tomorrow, be hopeful because guess what…THE PRESIDENT LITERALLY DOES NOTHING. Now, don’t roll your eyes or jump down my throat. He or She is commander in chief, can make executive orders, has the veto power, and appoints justices to the Supreme Court. I am not blind to this knowledge. I know it very well. In fact, I will show you just how much the President can do in comparison to his other leaders which are congressional leaders and ALL legislators on the federal level.

Now, when you look at this you may think I am crazy…or think I copied it from some SUPER polarized journal article. But actually, I put in hundreds of hours analyzing speeches, bills, votes, etc. to get these numbers. So everyone be happy that your president will probably only accomplish about 17% OR (probably) LESS than what he/she says. AND YOU’RE IN LUCK. Your members you vote into office aren’t much more productive.

Take a deep breath everyone. The President does have power, but it gets checked. I know it is sometimes difficult to trust the Federal government, but we have to. We also have to chill out with the name-calling. Hillary Clinton is no more of a murderer for being pro-choice than you are being pro-death penalty. Each one is “playing God” and taking a life. If we want progress to go up, vote for someone who won’t budge in their beliefs. Vote for someone who will do what they think is right, not what bigger people are pressuring upon them.

Go to the polls and vote tomorrow. Vote your conscience. Someone is going to be President tomorrow. 49% or lower of the population will be unhappy tomorrow night as they go to sleep. But it will all be okay. It is one election. The United States will recover from this slump and I am a firm believer that the U.S government is about to get some serious renovation. JUST DO YOUR PART AND GO VOTE.

Xoxo,

Christina ♥
